Really wonderful! Habner our driver drove very safely and carefully. Amazing and delicious! It was like being invited to a huge Mayan dinner party. The Mayan lunch that was served was extensive and varied with Erick discussing each dish and its significance. Lots of fun, failed tortillas and laughs. We then drove to a Mayan village and had a tortilla making lesson by an expert. Erick (of Mayan decent), was so incredibly knowledgeable about Mayan Culture, history, language and lore that it felt like taking a mini college course.but much more FUN! My 13 year olds loved the tour of the ruins and were really enjoying all the information Erick shared with the group.

Once we reached the office we were checked in by friendly desk staff and were assigned Erick as our tour guide and Habner was our driver. The Native Choice Office is a short walk outside the port, just follow the directions sent you. We booked the Mayan Experience Tour while still at home in the States. And we would still recommended this tour to friends! But they did drop us off at the port afterwards so we didn't have to walk as far. And I'm honestly not sure how much alcohol was really in them. Drinks of course were included but you had to wait for the guides to walk around with them. That's because the bottom of the lake is so rocky that it really hurt our feet and there was no super easy way to get in and out. The food was wonderful! The swimming was just ok. Actually saw some spider monkeys in the trees too! Then we went to the resort for lunch and swimming. We went to the ruins first, which was cool. It'd be nice if they had larger ones because you are in them a lot. The buses were fairly comfortable but very tight. All of the people we encountered were very friendly and knowledgeable. I understand why it needs to be that way and of course you could take a taxi, so no biggie. The walk to get to the buses was a good distance, not very easy to find, and hot. There were a couple things that could be better but overall we had a lovely day. All the while, our guides kept replenishing my Pina Coladas!! I was very excited to have plenty of time to relax under a cabana with my daughter while my son was either resting in a hammock or playing around in the crystal clear water. We were served drinks and a delicious lunch with a beautiful view of the resort and lagoon. We kayaked across the lagoon and through the mangroves and then back to the resort. The kayaking was a little tough due to the rough water but our very kind guide helped my son when he was tiring out. The place was called Bacalar Lagoon Resort and seriously looked and felt heavenly. It was stunning and perfectly landscaped. We traveled to a beautiful little secluded resort which took my breath away. Our drive included beautiful scenery, fun & friendly chatter and our guides shared lots about the area.

Our group included 2 guides, the driver, myself and 2 teens, and a very nice couple from Canada. Our tour guides were friendly, our driver was quiet but friendly as well. To start, we were given very specific and easy directions to the Native Choice office. I was immediately put at ease when I chatted with a couple who said they always book their excursions directly with companies and have only had good experiences doing so. This was my first time ever making an outside cruise excursion reservation (rather than through the ship).
